Plus Size Evening Wear – Get Your Party Dress on!

March 30th, 2010

Are You looking for some Plus size evening wear, something that will dazzle, and make you feel great?

Well gone are the tents in large prints, or black so that you fade into the background with a shapeless dress, and in come the latest in designer fashions. No more wall flower for you!

Plus size women can attend many evening functions in style, with lots of evening wear to choose from. Since research shows that more than 65% of North American women are size 14 and up, which is considered “plus size” designers have finally got around to designing sleek, chic and well fitting plus size evening wear.

Throw out the so called rules, when wearing evening wear. Enhance the parts of your body that you feel confident about. If you have great shoulders, then why not wear a “off one shoulder evening gown?. If you have great legs, go with a knee length cocktail dress. Wear what makes you feel confident and comfortable and most important, happy.

When plus size evening wear is designed to fit your size, you will actually look slimmer. As with any fashion and at any size, you have to decide which areas you would like to enhance. This is the best way to hide the areas you don’t feel as comfortable with. Rather than stuffing those areas into something that is too tight, spend the time enhancing the areas that you do like. Make the eye go for your best parts, when dressing in evening wear.

If you really don’t like your larger hips, then don’t wear frills around your hips. Stay away from accessories that will add to the areas you don’t want to enhance. Your “not so nice” area will seem to disappear. This is based on everything from your shape to your height in deciding what style you should wear. These tips apply to any size.

But the most important tip, for wearing plus size evening wear, or actually any slinkier fabric, is that you need to make sure to have good fitting lingerie. Sometimes you have to spend more on your underwear than the garment, but this is worth the expense. A good well fitting bra and panties, fitted by a bra professional (most lingerie shops have one, and it doesn’t have to be a plus size store, I found mine in a regular lingerie store) will make you feel better. No more tugging, and pulling, and bunching up, your bra should move with you, and let you breathe.

If you have well fitting lingerie, you will get rid of extra bulges, that will always show through evening wear, or any clothing for that matter. Some of the one piece undergarments feel just like your second skin. If you can create a smooth line, under your clothing, you will feel like a million bucks, and you will present yourself in such a way, that you will actually look confident and slim, and have a good time.

Flattering Yet Affordable Black Dresses

February 5th, 2010

The little black dress is a definite must have for every woman’s wardrobe, and we have the famous designer Coco Chanel to thank for that simple yet elegant outfit that can easily suit any size or shape for every occasion or event.

The basic idea behind it is that the color black is such a neutral color that everyone would not have a hard time matching it, making it so versatile, and having done it that almost everyone can afford it.

The woman’s wardrobe would be incomplete without the infamous LBD (little black dress) that can be used for casual or formal events, depending on when you are going to parade it.

The infamous little black dress is plain and simple which appears to be timeless because it is always in fashion and would never go out of style.

The wonderful thing is that you can purchase the little black dress and still keep up with the latest trends when you purchase black backless dresses, long vintage, or maxi styles in black.

This is perfect for people who are a little hesitant of wearing brighter colors. You can always add little accessories and accents to your little black dress like shoes, accessories and belts just to follow what is the “in color” of this season’s latest trend.

Black is a wonderful color that can blend perfectly well with any color. It can go well for casual or formal events, and looks great for any color, shape and size of women.

Perfect Prom Shoes – Simple Tips On How To Find Them

January 9th, 2010

You’ve spent countless hours searching for the perfect prom dress, and finally found
it. Now you need to find the perfect shoe to go with your dress. But it doesn’t have
to be hard! All you need to know is a few fashion tricks, and the perfect prom shoe
will be yours.

The most important thing to keep in mind is comfort. It doesn’t matter how amazing
and fantastic the shoe that you pick is – if you are unable to walk by the end of the
night, it was the wrong one! How can you look at your best if your feet feel like they
are about to fall off?

High heels are a common style of shoe, and for good reason – they make your legs
look longer and slimmer and force you to keep good posture. But you don’t need to
go ridiculous with the heel height. Two-inch heels are more than enough to give the
desired effect while saving your poor feet.

If you are used to them, strapped dress sandals are quite popular and can be worn
with most dresses. But they can be a pain to wear – you may find it more
comfortable to choose a dress shoe with an enclosed toe. If you get an enclosed toe,
make sure they have a soft, cushioned upper lining (leather is preferable).

Another option for shoes that are extremely comfortable to wear are ballet shoes.
Unfortunately they are only suitable with full skirts (they just don’t look right with
tight fitted dresses).

It probably doesn’t need to be said, but do ensure that you pick shoes that are the
correct size for you. Shoes that are too big or too small will never feel comfortable,
and a shoe that is too big could leave you with blisters or even come off at an
embarrassing moment!

Once you have decided on your shoes for the prom, make sure you wear them in
before the night. The easiest way to do this is to wear them around the house for an
hour or so each day for a week. If you aren’t used to the style of shoe you bought,
this also gives you a chance to become used to them.

One final tip; it can be difficult to find a colour that matches exactly, so you will
have two options. You can try to find a complementary colour (for example, black to
go with a dark coloured dress), or if the shoe is the right type you can dye it to
match.

If you decide to dye your shoes, remember that dyed items look different indoors
compared to outdoors. For example, shoes dyed grey may take on a purple tone
outside. There is nothing that can be done to stop this, so be sure to tell your dyer
if the event is indoor or outdoor.
