Help answer the question about dress shoes

What are good dress shoes for men made from?
I've always been told that a sign of a good dress shoe is that the sole and upper/interior are made of leather and the heels are wooden. I cannot seem to find any of these shoes anywhere. The rubber/rubber counterpart just seem cheap and would fall apart quickly. Please advise!

I suggest going to your local mall and using the following as a "checklist". If you can't find some of the stuff, go to a vintage (or retro) specialized shop– It'll be very easy to find '50s stuff. (if there isn't one in your area, here are some online ones)

Here's your "checklist"– I included some tips and pictures.

    1. A white blouse would be a safe start. Wear it under a high-waisted pencil or full skirt and it'll look great!

    2. Just a plain tank top would work out fine too. Something that looks like this:

    Not too low cut, please!

    3. A high-waisted pencil skirt, as I mentioned in number 1. Something with this kind of shape:

Get it in a plain color– red, for example.

    4. You could also try a high-waisted full skirt (see number 1).
Once again, get it in a plain color.

(A little tip: If you're going to get both a pencil and a full skirt, get different colors! i.e. get a red pencil skirt and a black full skirt.)

    5. If you're not a big fan of skirts, capris like this would be a great alternative:

    4. Dresses: There are so many different styles that I can't really help you out on this one! Here are a few of my favorites, though:

    5. For shoes, I'd suggest either a very high stiletto– or if you're not into wearing heels, just open-toed flats.

    6. Gloves were used during the whole decade and not that hard to find, so a great accessory.

    Good luck, hope I helped!
