Wedding Shoes – Advice on Finding the Perfect Pair to Complement the Wedding Dress

November 24th, 2009

Finding that perfect pair of wedding shoes for that all-important walk down the aisle can seem like a daunting task, especially after you have spent many a traumatic weekend looking for the dress. Here are a few hints and tips on how to find the perfect shoes without the stress.

Firstly, what sort of wedding are you having, beach, winter or a traditional English summer affair? If you are planning on tying the knot on an exotic beach, then a pair of flat sandals is the way forward. You don’t want your heels sinking into the sand as you make your way to your beloved. For a winter wedding, low heeled or block heeled boots or enclosed shoes will keep bridal toes and ankles warm and toasty.

And what is your wedding dress like, plain and simple or the full on fairy tale number? If you are going for the minimalist look with the dress, then a bit of detailing on your shoes will add interest whilst if it is all romantic froth, then simple elegant shoes might be the way forward as you don’t want to overdo the bling.

What about your beloved? Do you gaze fondly down on them or look lovingly up into their eyes? If they are rather on the petite size, do you really want to tower over them in a pair of skyscraper heels as you say those vows and just think how the photos will look. A pair of elegant flat court shoes or a sexy flat wedding mule is the answer. If though, you gaze up at them with lovestruck eyes, then the sky’s the limit, literally! You can go for the all out sexy high heel.

Finally, whatever style of wedding shoe you decide on for that walk down the aisle, you need to make sure you are comfortable. After all, you are going to be wearing them all day and dancing long into the night. It’s no good going for a pair of skyscraper heels if you are more of a trainers and jeans girl. You will just feel awkward and worry about tripping and stumbling your way through the ceremony. Conversely if sexy heels are more your thing, you might feel unfeminine and frumpy in a pair of flat wedding pumps.

Picking the Right Wedding Shoes for a Beach Wedding

November 20th, 2009

A beach wedding is different from a traditional wedding in terms of the theme and venue. Having a wedding on the beach can be quite challenging and exciting as you would have to brave through the natural forces.

Before you lay and decorate the venue, do consider having a flooring. This makes walking easier, rather than to tread on the soft white powdery sand. However depending on your preference, you can opt to have the flooring or not.

Your shoes should match the theme of the wedding, your dress and the venue. If you are having a retro beach wedding, you might want to get some shoes that are retro in nature. Or if you are considering a super duper casual beach wedding, then you might consider trendy flip flops.

Though the theme of the wedding is an important determinant in selecting your shoes, knowing how you are going to decorate the venue is important too. If you have decided to set a flooring, then you would find yourself having a wider choice of selection to choose from. If you do not have, then you might want to consider dropping the thin silhouette or heels as they sink easily in the sand. You might not even want to consider closed shoes since you know that you will feel uncomfortable when the sand gets into the shoes.

The material of the shoes is an important consideration too. If you do not like certain materials, then you should avoid getting such shoes even though they may be the most stunning of all. If you have the budget, you might consider custom tailoring a pair of shoes. Not only can you choose the design and material you want, you can also create the look.

If you have any foot problem, you might want to consider custom tailoring your shoes to ease the foot problem.

The common colors of bridal shoes are white, cream or sliver. But depending on your wedding dress, you might be able to choose other colors too.

Some common footwear for beach wedding:

Sandals Slip ons Heels (Provided you have the flooring set up) On a personal note, I feel that there should be some height in the bridal shoes to create the elegant look. If the shoes are completely flat, it does not seem to bring out the unique personality and charm.

However as all principles in planning a beach wedding, choose something that is within your means so that you do not have to overspend.
